My archaeological adventure in the mountains with Sara Croft ended with an unsettling discovery: a stone tablet inscribed with the last dragon slayer’s confession that he had never defeated the dragon which had made him a legend.
Overwhelmed by the significance of the find, Sara urged me to seek the consultation of the Loremaster of Thornhill - a scholar far wiser and better informed of the old legends.
The old Loremaster resides in his library near the Brinebridge, on the eastern side of the city of Thornhill. I should deliver the stone tablet to him.
I have reached the library of Thornhill. It's time I approached him with the stone tablet I found with Sara Croft, and seek his guidance.
The Loremaster of Thornhill proved far less surprised by Ser Percival's confession than I expected. The secret had been kept alive within his family, for he claims descent from Merlinius - the wizard who stood beside the Dragon Slayer and later crafted the lie of Percival's victory.
According to the Loremaster, Merlinius left behind memoirs explaining what he had planned for the day another champion might rise. The book is locked away in his drawers, but the old man has lost the key and believes the Thornhill locksmith keeps a spare.
If I am to learn what Merlinius intended, I should seek out Locksmith Adams in Broken Cliff, north of Thornhill's market.
Locksmith Adams turned out to be every bit as difficult as the Loremaster warned. The grumbling man recognized me at once from earlier trouble involving his keys, refused to help, and made it plain he would sooner swallow nails than hand me the spare.
Worse, the rowdy neighborhood children who might have helped distract him are no longer outside his workshop. Adams claims the city guards hauled them off to Thornhill Dungeons after one prank too many.
I should enter Thornhill Dungeons through the catacombs, find the children and see whether they're up for one final key-heist involving the locksmith.
Storming the Thornhill Dungeons once more, I was able to locate the children. I then requested a parley with one of the prison sergeants to have the children released.
Once free though, the children ran off with great enthusiasm, leaving me far behind. They seemed quite eager to get back at the locksmith for his role in their imprisonment.
I should head back to the locksmith’s workshop to determine what has happened.
Though it came at unexpected difficulty, I have recovered the Loremaster's spare key from the remains of the locksmith's house.
I should return to the Loremaster's library in Thornhill and use it to open the locked drawers where Merlinius' memoirs have been kept.
Finally, I managed to get inside the Loremaster’s locked drawer and recover the dusty old tome written by the wizard Merlinius all those years ago. Perhaps the book will contain his plan for the return of the dragon slayer?
I should present the book to Thornhill’s Loremaster, who’s still waiting for me patiently.
